Yes, and exceptionally delicious.
Yes, it is halaal.
I believe it is slow cooked in their oven in earthenware
Of course to all people
This restaurant makes me happy. I've tried several of their yummy dishes, some of which have been around for thousands of years (Abraham ate that dish too!) But I need to single out their Fatah with honey: shredded yemeni bread with sweet cream and black sesame that is to die for. They offer lamb soup, salad, unlimited freshly baked bread, and fantastic hot tea for all their patrons.
Amazing food along with excellent service. This place never disappoints every time i come here. This place offers some of the most authentic and delicious Yemeni food you’ll come across. I ordered the lamb, and the stew, you also get complimentary bread. Overall a good experience along with friendly staff
I went to New York twice and on both trips I visited this fabulous Arabic restaurant. Their food is so delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit it again!
I had lamb haneeth. A bit bland for my taste, the lamb was very tender though.
Exceptional service! And food was great
The guys that work there are really nice. They always looking out for you. The food was delicious. I love the appetizer soup they give at the beginning.
Great restaurant! This was my first time having Yemeni food and I was not disappointed at all. Our food came with bread (great bread), lamb soup, and salad. There's also self service tea which was very good but a little sweet for my taste. The food was a little pricey but the portions are more than generous enough, this is the type of place you would probably want to eat family style. The lamb here is great and highly recommended. Decor is a little sparse but seating is comfortable, not overly crowded. Service was great, everyone was very friendly and we got our food extremely quickly. They even put out the bread, soup, and salad before we even ordered!
Very high customer service and the Food Very healthy and Delicious. You should try it . You will visit it again and again .Thank you guys.
Small but busy restaurant. Food was very tasty. Staff were great. Very friendly and made us feel home. I recommend this place to everyone. It is worth a try.
Delicious food. Good service. Specially Zayed
Authentic, legit Yemeni food. The tea was amazing- add condensed milk to it. I don't like lamb and they brought me lamb soup right away without asking. Most of the menu is lamb. The lamb stew was actually amazing though, and the bread and everything else is really good. Most patrons were Yemeni so you know it's authentic
Lamb here is really tender, it literally melts in your meat. Absolutely loved their complimentary bread and soup.
I come to NY from VA once or twice a month just to visit this restaurant. Their most popular dish is the Haneeth, and it is incredible. A few months ago we tried the fish, and for me that is my new favorite dish! It's a must try! Great atmosphere and always hot food.
Great and fast service. The food is delicious especially Fahsa. All New Yorker recommended me to try it. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
My favorite place to eat. Excellent & delicious food... I love the beautifully cooked Lamb Haneeth, the soup, freshly made pita bread, and Yemeni Hot Tea. I'll have to try the Fatah and Kabob next time.
Assured Halal by the staffMust try “fah’sa”Delicious
There welcome tea mindblowing, love it.
Drink all you can Arabic tea! Freshly baked Arabic bread brought to you as much as you can eat. Chicken haneeth and lamb salta for the win!
Very welcoming, busy Yemeni restaurant - that I'm told serves authentic Yemeni food. It's not fancy - it's about the food and sitting with friends. Main courses include pita and salad. There's also a spiced Yemeni tea that is also included and it's self serve - so don't miss that. We ordered a lamb dish that the waiter said is cooked for 5 hours - it was falling off the bone delish and plenty for 2.
Amazing casual restaurant for traditional food. Go with a big group and share everything. Portions are massive. Soup and salad are included. The tea is very sweet but perfect for ending the meal. Love to see places like this thriving.
The best place if you love lots of tasty food. Service was quick. Waiters are nice. 5 stars! The food just keeps coming!
Honestly I’d come back here only for the tea & evaporated milk combo. SO delicious. The food here was really good too but that tea hrnnnggg
Amazing Yemeni food! I ordered number 8 which was lamb mixed in with tomato and onion (but mostly lamb) and it comes with two Khubz (breads) that are the size of dinner plates and there was also free Arabic black tea (but still was a little sweet.) The lamb was INCREDIBLE and the tea was exceptional as well. Me and my father ate it together and were STILL full after sharing even. Overall 5 stars!
This place is great - service, food, atmosphere - all great. The entrees easily feed two people. Free tea and fresh dates while you wait for a table are perfect. It's informal, slightly chaotic in a good way, with enthusiastic service by people who appear to care about your experience there.
We had Iftar at Yemen Cafe last night. Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful! The food had the right amount of spice, and if you wanted a little extra kick they had a very nice spicy green sauce on each table. I personally loved the sweet black tea station and enjoyed a few cups of a nice hot tea after dinner. The service was excellent too! All staff was friendly and helpful.
I cane here a year ago and the food was so good. Flavorful and just delicious!.. i often brag on how great the food was. This last time I visited ny and went.. the ghlaba wasn't very bland aswell as the mark. It didn't taste well seasoned at all. I bought a group with me and they have agree.
I am sure if you are already here you know how New Yorkers talk about this place. It represents all the buzz and noise it has created in New York. Amazing delicious cooked food. You have to visit them if you are in NY and you love Middle-Eastern food. Take time out and go check them out. I have to mention that the level of service was just excellent even though its a small restaurant. Amazing guys keep it up and think about opening a branch in Chicago :) The picture is of the Mix Grill i had
Everything is delicious, authentic cuisine, but very casual so not exactly a date spot. Servers aren’t attentive (granted, it’s very busy). TV is always playing something, usually a group of cute old Arab uncles chatting it up, and it’s got an all around happy ambiance. Great lamb, but not that the kabsa has tons of chicken bones & pieces inside the rice so if you want to avoid sifting, be specific (should have asked for chicken breast only 😂).
Excellent service and great food!
The waiters don't wear masks and if they do it's below the mouth, a lot of shouting and screaming without a mask. If you want to get covid this is the place to go
Good authentic food in a casual setting. Hard working and very friendly staff provding good service.
Food was pretty good here. I loved the lamp broth that they served up once you enter. Had the lamb Haneeth that’s supposed to be their best dish. Love the rice and sauce but found the lamb wasn’t as tasty as I thought it would be. Very good value for lunch though!
Amazing food along with excellent service. This place never disappoints every time i come here. This place offers some of the most authentic and delicious Yemeni food you’ll come across. I ordered the lamb, and the stew, you also get complimentary bread. Overall a good experience along with friendly staff. I actually got free extra soup and bread. In love with this place and the services
If you want authentic Middle Eastern food come here! If you like American Middle Eastern go to Bedouin tent. I seriously cannot believe how good the food was. They serve different types of lamb based on your preference they have anywhere from soft to hard lamb the flavor is amazing. The soup starters also amazing. The salads are ok not really my type but it was nice. The menu options are a lot so do a little review and picture checking before you come.
Super excellent authentic Yemeni restaurant; Prime location, very good seating, mouth watering delicious food, perfect presentation, generous portions, very reasonable prices.. entrees come with lots of sides like soup, salad, bread, tea.. I highly recommend.
Amazing food with friendly staff
First of all, this appears to be an extremely authentic place - half the guests were speaking Arabic and seemed to be regulars. We ordered three dishes. The chicken aqda was fantastic and I would order again. The lamb haneeth and foul were frankly disappointing and not as flavorful as I had hoped. I would absolutely try this place again and see about some different dishes.
I was concerned after I sit down with my friends because I am vegetarian. However, I found a vegetarian stew and the taste is phenomenal!
Nice food. Big portions. Free bread, salad and soup
Every time I travel to NYC I make sure to make this restaurant one our main stops. My family and I love it. The food (lamb) is amazingly delicious and well cooked. Service is super friendly. Price is super reasonable. You get free soup and bread refill with a smile. The tea is also on the House. Drink as much as you like. And even though food is on the heavy side of things, but always feels easy on the stomach. Atmosphere is decent but you still can sit comfortably to eat and socialize a bit (but it ain’t no lounge, that’s what I mean). But let me say this and I hope it won’t come across as an over statement: if you never had a Yemenite cuisine you’re certainly missing a whole lot in your life! 🏆👍
Super friendly welcoming cafe. Their free tea, unlimited flatbread (like naan but fresher and tastier) and ghee are out of this world. The Fatah with honey is delicious but a really filling dessert. It is bread soaked in ghee and honey. For the folks able to eat lamb meat, they serve complimentary bowls of lamb soup - which tables around us seem to be enjoying. I took 1 star off because the Foul was a disappointment. It is one of the vegetarian dishes on the menu but it is pretty bland and lacks flavor. We mixed it with the lemon juice and the spicy sauce hoping it would improve in flavor but it still remained pretty mediocre. Definitely recommend this place but the foul is not great.
Amazing! Food is beyond perfect. Their dish with lamb and rice is absolutely breathtaking. Personally, I come here for the soup and the bread. Amazing customer service, and kid friendly. I can’t find a negative rating 100/100. ❤️🇾🇪❤️🇪🇬❤️
Best Yemeni food I have had yet....The staff is very friendly and very welcoming. The food and fresh and unlimited Yemeni tea!! The Bread is freshly baked and goes down well with anything on the menu. Will be going there on a regular basis. Thanks guys!
Mouth watering, fall off the bone meat dishes. Love the tea and soup here as well. 10/10 would recommend this local spot!
The real deal! The food is delicious. Though the decor isn't middle eastern, you still get the feeling you are there while dining here. For a busy Saturday dinner, we didn't have to wait long. The good came out quickly and was delicious.
I give the place 3.5 stars not 3. It was good, the service was excellent and quite fast. The food was regular, not what I was expecting. I will go back in a group but it's no where that I will specifically plan to go again. Their recommended dishes are good, the rice was quite bland and the veggies are the same. The lamb was the best part and still not as good as advertised. Stay away from the desert it's a big pass.
PROS:food plentiful, presentation & the lamb soup are amazing, and oh my god the lamb is falling off the bone soft. CONS: just wish the lamb had more flavor, idk maybe it’s a Yemen thing. I’ll definitely be back tho.
I am wondering how many of the reviewers who rated Haneath as 5 star if ever they tried authentic Haneeth somewhere else! The rice is NOT Haneath’s rice! It’s just broiled low quality rice without flavors and without being well done as Haneath ice should be. The price is ridiculously high(22$ for “broiled rice”). I am giving zero star for the Haneath. The Fahsa and fresh bread is well done and deserves 4 stars. If you are tempted to try the Haneath, just try my wife’s wisdom which saved my day;order one dish for everyone to try then decide!
I had the shakshuka which was more likely a scramble. It was tasty but a different variation than the traditional version. The broth soup is really good. Disappointed in the hummus as mine had frozen clumps in it. The tea is great and so is the naan. Apparently fish counts as vegetarian on the menu.
The most authentic Yemeni food on the east coast nobody comes close. My favorite restaurant
